David Boyd was an Australian painter best known for his fluid landscape paintings which depicted themes from colonial history. His colorful works can be categorized by their textured brushstrokes and wavy, psychedelic imagery. For example, in his painting Beauty and the White Horse, he paints a nude women swimming in a lake—curved trees fold in on her and bright yellows and blues fill the sky.
